Service with the imposition of ashes. Ash Wednesday marks the start of the Lenten season, a time of fasting and repentance. Lent reflects the 40 days Jesus spent in the desert in prayer and fasting before beginning his public ministry. (There will be another service at 6 p.m. as well.)
